The Staff:
The staff includes seven veterinarians, one intern, surgical and anesthesia technicians, a laboratory technician, multiple ambulatory technicians, and six office personnel.
Dr. Sam Ferguson, D.V.M
Dr. Ferguson founded the Ocala practice in 1987 after having worked with Teigland and Associates Racetrack Practice in south Florida for the previous four years. Dr. Ferguson graduated from the University of Florida in 1983. Although proficient and interested in all areas of ambulatory practice, Dr. Ferguson's special interest is in the diagnosis and therapeutic considerations of racehorse injuries.
Dr. Phil Hammock, D.V.M.
Dr. Hammock joined the practice in 2001 and became a partner in January of 2004. He was previously staffed surgeon at Dubai Equine Hospital. Having graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1992, and following an internship at Cornell University, Dr. Hammock worked in private practice for two years before doing a surgical residency at the University of Illinois. A Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, his special interests are lameness and orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Greg BonenClark, D.V.M.
Dr. Greg BonenClark joined the practice in 2003. Having graduated from Virginia-Maryland in 1991, he did an internship at Georgetown Equine Hospital and subsequently a residency at the University of Florida. He was staff surgeon at Teigland and Associates from 1995 to 2000. Also a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, his special interests are orthopedic surgery and sales examinations.
Dr. Liane Puccia, D.V.M.
Dr. Puccia joined the practice in 1997. The previous year she did an internship in a private practice, after having graduated from Ross University in 1993. A proficient and dedicated ambulatory practitioner, her special interests include emergency medicine and theriogenology.
Dr. Jonathan McLellan, D.V.M.
Dr. McLellan, a graduate of Glasgow University in Scotland, joined the practice as an associate in July 2004. He was our intern during 2003. His special interests include reproduction and all areas of ambulatory practice.
Dr. Maria E. Cadario, D.V.M., M.S., Diplomate ACT
Dr. Cadario is working in conjunction with Ferguson and Associates Equine Hospital for the 2006 breeding season. A Board Certified Theriogenologist, Dr. Cadario brings a vast array of experience to our practice in the areas of infertile mares, embryo transfers, breeding with cooled and frozen semen, placental pathologies, and stallion evaluations. She has taught at the University of Florida in Gainesville and in Argentina, at the University of Cordoba College of Veterinary Medicine. She is the author of numerous research papers and is frequently a presenter at veterinary conferences. She splits her time between her specialty practice in Florida and the breeding season in South America.
Carlos A. Perez, D.V.M.
Dr. Perez is a 2002 graduate of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. He spent almost two years at Hanover Shoe Farms in Hanover, PA, as one of the resident veterinarians. There, he was involved in the semen collection and management of nine stallions and the reproductive management of 500 broodmares. Dr. Perez then moved his family to Summerfield, Florida, where he worked for Equitransfer Inc., a practice specializing in embryo transfer. Dr. Perez spends his free time participating in competitive cycling and coaching youth soccer.
Robin Parker, D.V.M.
Dr. Parker is a 1984 graduate of Texas A&M University. She remained in Texas following graduation and developed an equine ambulatory practice. Her practice emphasis was equine reproduction to include both stallion and broodmare management along with neonatal care. For the last 3 years she worked exclusively with the patented technology of sexing semen in the bull and stallion. She owns Vision Quest Farm in Texas and maintains 2 Quarter Horse stallions, 20 broodmares and 11 horses of varying ages in training for halter and performance. Dr. Parker joins us to expand our reproduction capabilities with a special focus on the assisted reproductive techniques.
Dr. Carolyn Todd, B.V.M.S.
Dr Todd graduated from Glasgow University Veterinary School, Scotland in July 2006. She rode Competitively in the United Kingdom (show jumping and eventing) and spent a season working on the Australian World Cup show jumping circuit. Her primary areas of interest are emergency medicine, and diagnosis and management of lameness in both Thoroughbred training horses and Sport Horses. Dr Todd enjoys getting out onto the lake on her days off to slalom water-ski and swim.
